turtle rocks

Time for a quick craft! This one is so simple, even the littlest can participate!

Step 1: Find rocks.

Over here, this is one of the kids most favorite things to do – even when we aren’t planning to create anything with them!

Step 2: Paint rocks!

You can paint them any old way you wish. In these pictures we were painting red ladybugs and green turtles, but we have our fair share of rocks in every hue, including rainbows, smiley-faces, clouds. . . the list goes on and on!

Step 3: Decorate!

After the first round of paint dries, it’s time to add the finishing touches! Black spots for ladybugs, with a line down the middle to mark her wings (naturally. The turtles got their shells done with yellow fingerprints! Add a smile and a pair of googly eyes (these can be painted on, too!), and you’re done!

This is one of those things that we do so often around here, that I don’t even think to post about it! We have rocks living in our backyard from two or three years ago that still show signs of acrylic paint and glitter!

Step 4: PLAY!

The very best craft is the kind that becomes a plaything. Throw down some green and blue construction paper to create leaves, grass, and water for your rock critters, and you’ve just made your kids a play set that will keep them occupied for far longer than you’d expect, and cost next to nothing to make!
