turning four (part one)

“Most of us can remember a time when a birthday – especially if it was one’s own – brightened the world as if a second sun has risen.”

– Robert Lynd
My baby is four. My little tiny Teagan. . .
is four years old!
Birthdays are super-special days, and ought to be treated as such, so after she went to bed the night before, we stayed up super late to get things ready for her big day. . .
T woke up to find the dining room table piled high with balloons, cupcakes, and best of all to any kid – PRESENTS! She was ridiculously excited, and wasted no time getting to those candles.
This was a good thing, because poor little Ro had already been up for hours, and was very disgruntled by the waiting for cupcakes! Ro has no understanding of our uncontrollable urge to light fires and sing before gobbling said sugary goodness, and so was a bit grumpy about the delay…
So, songs were sung, candles ‘blown off,’ wishes made, and the afore-mentioned cupcakes. . .
Devoured!
There were loads of presents, but the BEST one was saved for last. . .
A baby doll, (the first mom and dad have ever bought for her)! As big as life and almost as realistic-looking. . .
T was well pleased with her birthday haul of awesome goodies, but her big day had only just begun!
T’s birthday fell on a Saturday this year, so we had a little Kai-Lan cupcake party with immediate family to celebrate.
The gang was all there!Aunts, almost-uncles, a plethora of grandparents, and even a couple of greats made it over to celebrate the big OH-FOUR with Super Puff!
Even Ro was in a fantastic mood, and they both loved being the center of everyone’s attention!
Party honkers are one of T’s favorite things ever, so even if they give mommy a headache, we made sure to have an ample supply of them around. And they got used – constantly!
Then again with the singing. . .
and the ‘blowing-off. . .’
. . . and the PRESENTS!
T had a fantastic birthday, and she got so many wonderful gifts from her family, including a scooter, a tambourine, a piggy bank shaped like an elephant, a birthday cake for her kitchen set, and an entire collection of Ni Hao Kai-Lan beanie babies, just to mention a few! A huge thanks to everyone that came over to celebrate. You made my birthday girl’s heart feel super-happy (as Kai-Lan would say)! She had the best day of turning ever – and we weren’t even done with the celebration yet. . .
