A mommy moment. . .
“The only thing worth stealing is a kiss from a sleeping child.”
-Joe Houldsworth
I love the way my daughter’s room smells when I sneak in for a midnight check. . .
I’m not talking about baby powder. . .or poopie diapers, or that sippy cup of milk that disappeared into her toybox last week. It’s a warm smell . . . an indefinable scent that reminds me of snuggling, downy velour blankets, and threadbare stuffed elephants. It’s a calming and comforting all-is-right-with-the-world smell, like summer days spent picking clover flowers in the backyard, picnics, bubble baths, and story time. Soft skin, piggy toes, and bear hugs. . .Its all of these things, yet none of them alone.
It’s just the smell of my baby, sleeping softly in her crib. I love her. . .
