The house that has been standing vacant behind us all summer now has a family. This family is in possession of a little boy, but as they’ve made this move from a second-floor apartment, their backyard is woefully devoid of any manner of fun and childish things to keep little boys happily occupied.
Our backyard, on the other hand, is a veritable smorgasbord of toddlerhood delights. We have swings, slides, forts, push-toys, and sandboxes. . . giant beach-balls, riding toys, rocking horses, and a wading pool. The very day they moved in, my husband noticed said little boy standing at our fence looking wistfully at our backyard.
It didn’t take very long for Baby Puff to make a new friend. . .
Little Boy is three-and-a-half years old, and Puff is mad about him. As far as she is concerned, Little Boy is the proverbial bee’s knees, the cat’s pajamas, and the greatest thing since sliced bread. She dotes on him with the type of adoration that is only ever seen given from a younger child to an older, and as is often the case in these situations, he is wholly oblivious.
Looking out the back door in the hopes of catching a glimpse of him has become a favorite pastime of T’s. If her wandering eyes should happen to spy him on the horizon, GOOD GOD, how excited she becomes. All things must be dropped, post haste, and running outside as swiftly as we are able becomes the only task at hand.
SO cute! I can tell she is smitten with him for sure! I can just picture little T jumping for joy when she spies her new friend in site! (And Mommy thinking, well I guess we have to go outside). Makes me think of my son Cody who was infatuated with a friend at our old neighborhood. For me though, it ended up driving me kind of nutty! But, seing as you are such a devoted Mom, I can just see you dropping everything and going out to please your cutie pie.
Awww how sweet!!! Two little lovebirds on their rocking horses/other animals. 😛 Looks like they have a blast and at least Little Boy is not some terror on two feet, yet!! I’ll most certainly keep my fingers crossed for you that T’s obsession with LB doesn’t get worse! 😀
Chesh, you write SO WELL….I loved your description….oh my gosh, how in the world do you write like that? How fun for T to have a play friend. Wonderful photos of them!
I loved reading this as well.. Aadya loves making new friends…I wish I cud catch up sometime with all of u I met on parenting weekly……Thankful to that site that Ive got all of u….
OK, who is this kid? What kind of people are his parents? Will he hurt her in any way? Does he have a criminal record? Is she in danger? You just can’t trust any old three-year-old these days, y’know.

Pretty awesome when you stop to think that they might wind up being friends for life. It’s a beautiful thing…
