Oh! The cuteness!

“Kids: they dance before they learn there is anything that isn’t music.”

~William Stafford

T accompanied me on my last visit with the midwife. This was before she had been informed of the pregnancy. As T occupied herself across the room with a snack and some toys, my midwife was searching for the baby’s heartbeat. This would be the first time that we were able to hear it via doppler (a very exciting time!). When she found it (150 bpm), the sound filled the room, and T dropped what she was doing. . .

stood up. . .

And started to dance to the rhythm of her sibling’s heartbeat.

While in a store T calls out from the cart seat where she is restrained to a seemingly random stranger;

T: HI, MAN!!!

Man: Hello!

*we roll past*

Me: Why did you say hi to that man, and no-one else?
(I had to wonder, because she usually greets everyone we pass. This day she had been strangely silent, but for this ONE person.)

T: I like that man.

Me: Why did you like him?

T: He was nice. . .

Me: How do you know that he was a nice?

T: I know that he was nice, because he wasn’t growling. . .

Me: . . . . . . .

We have been talking to Teaball about Thanksgiving quite a bit lately, of course, since it’s right around the corner. During our initial conversation about the holiday, I explained the concept in a way that I thought she would be able to understand, and then proceeded to list many things that I am thankful for. Naturally I soon turned the conversation around and asked my dear little lady what it was that SHE was most thankful for. . .

Puffy pondered this question rather seriously for a few moments, and with a thoughtful expression on her little face, she looked up at me and said quite seriously;

Fish.
I am thankful for fish, mom.
Oh! And whales, too. . .

And I was SO hoping she was going to say that she was thankful for ME! *pouts*

T: LOOK! MOM! LOOK! A DANDELION FLOWER!

Me: Wow! It’s very pretty!

T: It SMELLS good, too. . .

Me: Oh yeah? What does it smell like?

T: It smells like dandee!

Me: That makes sense. . .only, what does dandee smell like?

T: Dandi smells like YELLOW, mom. . .

Me:  . . .

    Children are so intuitive and NEVER underestimate what may proceed from their mouths!! I chose midwives too to oversee my pregnancies and couldn’t have been more pleased. Yes your sweet one is beautiful!!!
