HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SEUSS!!!
I have to stop that rhyming stuff now, it makes my brain hurt. . .
So, in case you hadn’t heard, last Tuesday (March 2nd) was the date of the illustrious Theodor Seuss Geisel’s (Dr.Seuss) birth in 1904. We celebrated by having a green eggs and ham brunch, naturally.
SHE DID! She DID like green eggs and ham,
and she WOULD eat them, Sam I Am!
In fact, this little girly had second and third helpings…

We also celebrated by playing rhyming games. Tea-ball is so cute when it comes to rhyming. Some of the time, she gets it and makes a rhyme. The rest of the time, she doesn’t get it – but will give you two words that are related to each-other in some way. For example, if you asked her what rhymes with the word ‘foot,’ she just might say ‘socks.’ She’ll get it sooner or later, I’m sure. For now, its adorable when she gets it wrong! *giggle*
We also practiced our numbers, shapes, and colors by making a one fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish picture. T had a blast with this simple little craft, though she happily pointed out to me that these fishies were supposed to be yellow. She’s right, of course, in the book that we have they are. But there is a major discrepancy in the illustrations! On the front cover, they’re white and green. . . so I managed to convince her that red and blue would be just fine! *shakes head*
And of course we read lots and lots and lots and LOTS and LOTS of Dr. Seuss books (thanks to my mother for the box-load of them that she gave Puffy for Christmas). T’s favorite by far still is “Go, Dog, Go.” I suspect that this is because of its pure simplicity. She really enjoys ‘reading’ it to me. She’s heard it enough times, and the images and words so clearly go together that she can get it nearly 100% right! T also loves “The Cat in The Hat,” (who doesn’t?!), and “Marvin K. Mooney Will You Please Go Now.” Another ranking favorite is “Ten Apples Up on Top.”
Do you see a trend emerging? In all honesty, Puff likes them all, but she gets a bit confused still by some of Seuss’ more fantastical inventions. She simply does not understand that many of the creatures simply do not exist in this world as we know it, and it boggles her tiny little mind. Because of that confusion, T’s favorite Seuss books are the ones that are based in reality. Still, she always enjoys a good rhyming story, and the best of the best come from Dr. Seuss!
There were other fun and silly games that we played too, but believe me when I say that you had to have been there. The silliness that Dr. Seuss inspires in me and my T (and baby A by default) is really far too silly to put into words. Just believe me when I tell you that we all had a very happy Dr. Seuss day!

I enjoy your mornings with Puff, especially when you make pictures and then take pictures.
Were those odd green orbs really eggs? Looked more like play doh. T is more trusting than I would be if you put that on my plate.
We celebrated my grand-niece’s 2nd birthday last weekend. Big party, pinata, lots of fun. I think about her every time I read your blog.

Happy *Belated* Birthday, Dr Seuss!! I love your crafts, but I’m having a bit of a problem with the green eggs and ham. Still trying to figure out those “eggs”? They don’t LOOK like eggs to me. *giggle* I’m glad she enjoyed them!

LOL! I guess I should have clarified the making of the green eggs and ham. . . don’t worry – I wouldn’t feed my girly play-doh! I wanted them to look like fried eggs, cuz’ they do in the book, but couldn’t figure out how to turn just the centers green without popping the yolks. So I separated the egg whites and cooked them in a pan, the yolks I boiled, mashed, and mixed with mayo and green food coloring – egg salad style. I then rolled them into balls (obviously) and WALLAH! Green eggs and ham!
Tea-ball loves egg-salad and fried eggs, so she was totally fine with the outcome.
If anyone knows how to do it right, please let me know for next year!!!

How great! Believe it or not I have NEVER had green eggs and ham!!! But I love Go Dog Go too! I’ts my favorite!

Tori also celebrated, but at school. She too loves Dr.Suess. I think her fav is “One Fish, Two Fish” or “Wacky Wednesday” (which you gave her if you remember). She too loves to read them to us. I think her saying the crazy things are the cutest.

That is the oddest meal. My goodness. Cute how Puff has the Dr. Seuss bib on. The fish turned out very nice.
